You probably already know what this is movie is about and have already met the wonderful Ice Age Characters, but have you thought about using this movie to get some ideas for a kids party? If your child is an Ice Age fan, why not invite this enjoyable, prehistoric cast to be your next kids party...as the party theme! Make your party invitations using pictures of the cast, make a dinosaur cake and play games like Pin the Trunk on the Wooly Mammoth.

In the first movie, we were introduced to the cast of characters. In the second movie, the characters survived a world-changing event in the meltdown. Now, taking off where the first two movies left off, Ice Age 3 will see the return of the familiar and loveable characters, Manny and Ellie the Woolly Mammoths, Sid the Megalonyx, Crash and Eddie the Opossums, Diego the Smilodon, and Scrat the squirrel in an all new adventure.

Fresh off the meltdown of the Ice Age 2, the motley crew of animals encounter something they never expected to see, dinosaurs! Thought to have been extinct millions of years ago, it is revealed that many of these ferocious beasts have survived in a frozen paradise. After the events of the second movie, with the glaciers melting down, the dinosaurs are no longer trapped in ice. Among their numbers is a monstrous Tyrannosaurus Rex which threatens Scrat the squirrel.

In a side plot, Ellie the Woolly Mammoth is also getting ready to have her and Manny's first and only baby Woolly Mammoth. And in addition to the new dinosaur characters, more animal characters are introduced in Ice Age 3, including a female companion for Scrat, a flying squirrel named Scratte.

As the characters from the Ice Age encounter their new animal counterparts, there is sure to be tension and conflict. But while the tone of the movie may get scary at times, the antics of Crash and Eddie the Opossums will continue to be amusing and light-hearted.

Check out the Tyrannosaurus Rex Pinata as a fun party game along with Dinosaur footprints and of course, you are going to need a dinosaur cake! It's easy to turn Ice Age 3 into a fun party theme for your child. Dinosaur party ideas are among the most popular theme for kids birthday parties. There are great decorating ideas and party game ideas you can use to entertain young children for hours using Ice Age 3 the Movie as inspiration.

Basic Video Editing By Thom Pryor

We already know why film, VHS and Beta should be converted to DVD. The answer is simply to preserve the media in its current state and to prevent further deterioration. The conversion process halts deterioration in its tracks, so that should be the end off the story, right. Wrong!

The next step is basic video editing. Imagine your favorite half hour TV show without editing. Instead of running 22 minutes (without commercials), the normal shooting ratio is 4 to 1 for a TV show. That means you would be sitting there for 88 minutes to watch your favorite show. Editing is what removes the mistakes, multiple takes for performance and the parts that no one ever wanted in the show in the first place. Now we know that the ratio won't be the same in a home video, but we also know that there are mistakes (Oops! I left the lens cap on. Why am I looking at 2 minutes of a shot of my feet? ETC!) that can easily be rectified through the editing process.

Once we have removed the obvious mistakes it is time to look at transitions that are created by cuts. Your first option is a straight cut. With a straight cut you move from one piece of tape, or film to another. If the angle changes enough, straight cuts work quite well.

Your next option is jump cut. A jump cut is cut within one continuous piece of footage. If the angle is static, a jump cut will look like a jump in time. This may work for your particular piece, or it may be jarring. With many home movies the camera moves around so that a jump cut will look like a straight cut because the angle has changed so drastically because of the movement of the camera.

A third type of transition is a dissolve, wipe, etc. between shots. These transitions provide a slow transition onto the next shot. A dissolve makes a transition from unconnected shots look smooth. They can be any length that fits your footage and that will be determined by the way it "feels" when you look at it. Try to start with dissolves because they provide the most pleasing transitions. Too many editors get caught up in using the many bizarre transitions that come with the package that they edit with. Try to remember that you are editing your footage for a bigger audience than yourself and there is no need to impress the software techie who invented the "peanut butter wipe."

Editing is about telling a story, so try mot to lose sight of that!

Thom Pryor was a professional Hollywood video editor for over 30 years working on some of your favorite films and TV shows. Right now, today.

Most people in our busy world don't have the time for traditional weekly lessons - traditional lessons in which scales and exercises come first and the actual playing of a song might take weeks or months. They want the thrill of success in hearing themselves play songs immediately. They want to amaze their friends with their playing prowess. They are looking for a way to quickly master songs and then deal with the how and why of playing later.

So, with those piano players in mind, the rote pentantoic method was created. This method is a really enjoyable and successful way to do just what many people want to do and that is to play a song on the piano today. The pentatonic method would allow that, but the challenge remained of how to get the information to would be piano players quickly and efficiently.

Once I became aware of just how many people want to PLAY the piano without the encumbrances of a teacher and weekly scheduled lesson times, I looked for a solution for those students. I developed the concept of downloadable piano tutorials.

With these tutorials, the student decides when to try the ideas, and better yet, these tutorials can be viewed right in the comfort of the student's home using their own keyboard or piano. Never again does a person have to make sure to block out every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to get to a piano teacher's home studio half-way across town and back.

These pentatonic method tutorials start exactly where would be pianists want to start - with playing songs! They don't start with the "this is a G on the treble clef" stuff. The idea is to play the piano TODAY! Not tomorrow or next week. TODAY.

By the end of the first session students are playing a well-known song with BOTH hands! On the first day! After all, how can you amaze your friends just playing Mary Had a Little Lamb with ONE hand? The series of tutorials allow you the flexibility for each individual to work at their own pace.

The tutorials helps a person learn a song for their first You Tube piano video and be party-performer ready. Again, the student decides how quickly they will move through the tutorials.

People just want to play the piano. They do not want any of the mind-numbing anxiety or stress which can be experienced when preparing for intense one-on-one lessons with a teacher.

Downloadable tutorials give the would-be pianist all the information and skills needed to wow their friends and amaze themselves. The tutorials let the beginner hear how awesome your song will sound and show the student just how to get these mind-blowing skills.

The tutorials can be reviewed time and again until the player is You Tube ready. Besides that, learning to play songs on the piano with the rote pentatonic method really is fabulously FUN!

So start playing the piano using the pentatonic method and play songs on the piano!

Dr. Jeannine Jordan is a professional piano teacher and performer, who wants to open the world of music to the beginning pianist through creative enjoyable online tutorials. The GIF file format is available for for free without any obligations on your part.

The Gif format is a low quality graphic format used for clipart, logos and other pictures on the net. But on some sites it is also used to present sheet music.

You can also listen to the music in Scorch format. This is a plugin that you can download for free at the sibelius.com website and it makes it possible to listen to a midifile and at the same time follow the score as the music proceeds.

They also offer the free sheet music in PDF format if you subscribe to the site. The piano scores are completely free to print out in PDF format on the address gmajormusictheory.org. You will also find midifiles together with the sheets for your reference.

It is impossible to include all free piano sheet music sites here and my advice is for you to search for the sites by including the before mentioned search terms and to have patience. As you bookmark the sites of your taste you will be able to build up your own personal library with free quality piano sheets!

By Peter Edvinsson

Funk, Soul and Rhythm and Blues By Tex Johnson

n 1970, a new strand of Rhythm and Blues (R&B) was hitting the airwaves, funk music. Rhythm and Blues artists like Little Richard, James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, and the Meters helped to pave the way to R&B Funk topping record charts and filling nightclubs with a funky new beat.
Psychedelic soul hit the music industry in the late 60's giving the R&Bs a blend of rock and soul with that had an upbeat tempo that one could move their feet to on the dance floor. It was the crack that led to the opening to funk and disco a few years later.

Funk music could be classified as a mixture of soul music with a dash of jazz, and R&B, with a strong rhythmic groove built from the electric bass, drums, and the electric guitar. They often have a strong horn section as well where the sax added the soul and the trumpets and trombone accented the rhythmic beats.

By Tex Johnson

When taking a trip down funk music memory lane you can't help think back to the 70's artists such as Rufus feat, Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Eric Burdon & War, Tower of Power, Average White Band, The Commodores, and Kool & the Gang. The thing with funk music back in the 70's and still today is that no one band or artists was bound to just that one style of music. These same artist and many more also played other genres of music such as disco and rare soul music. Funk just opened the doors to new venues as well as new genres of music such as disco beats, hip hop, and go-go and punk music.

By the early 80's funk took on a bit more of a spin and became more sultry and sexual in content with the help of artists such as Prince. After all, the initial oncoming of funk was based off the idea of getting your groove on or sexual intercourse to be more direct. A song would start with a slow rhythmic groove working up to a harder, pounding, and more insistent and demanding rhythm.

The 80's also brought musical instrument changes to the traditional funk sounds with the exchange from live horn sections to synth keyboards, organs and pianos were replaced with electronic machines and synthesizers as well. Even the drums were replaced by electronics taking a good part of the show out of funk today. Lyrics that used to be innuendos of sexual content have become straight out obvious sexual content.

The late 80's and early 90's brought funk into yet another light as rock bands started incorporating funk sounds to their venue calling it funk rock or funk metal. However through all the changes of Funk R&B influences that earlier performs such as James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, The Meters, The Funk Brothers, and Bootsy Collins still remain.

Learn to Play Electric Guitar and Wow the Crowds

I can still remember a time not so long ago when I was honestly starting to be convinced that the electric guitar was at the end of its days. The problem is that the whole area of music production is huge, not to mention most people have their own unique way of doing things. I am now going to give you some pieces of advice that are important in your success and will help you to pave a path to a professional music production. Producers widely accept the following as "rules" within music production.

Do not mix for too long; let your ears rest - It is important to take breaks during mixing. For each hour you are mixing a track allow a twenty minutes break. This can be quite hard if you are doing computer music production, as the computer you will be mixing on will no doubt be in the room you spend most of your time. Now. Nobody really sticks to this break-time formula as regular clockwork but it is something to aim for and maybe let this time overlap slightly. I would say to take a break sooner if you are working on a small repetitive section of a song for a while, as your mind will just 'let go' and not be sharp and anything will sound amazing after a while sabotaging any plan to get a professional music production finished. This art cannot be rushed or forced.

Do not mix in a large spacious environment - Anything that alters the sound of your track that is outside of computer music production or a mixing desk is a problem. If you mix like this, you might get a professional music production out of your track but once you take it out of the room you mixed it in it will sound completely terrible as the ambiance and acoustics of that room are no longer present. You need to make your mixing room a 'dead' room, which means you need to dampen any sort of effects the room is creating. Natural reverb is normally the biggest problem; clapping your hands is a good way to see if there is a problem.

Do not mix a music track on the same day recording it - This is for two reasons. First reason would be because you use two different parts of your brain to do each. For one you have to really concentrate hard and the other is the opposite, you want to concentrate too but you also want forget what you are doing and sense or feel. It is hard to explain but it is universally expected you cannot do both on the same day. The second reason would be due to the possible levels your ears have been exposed to during recording, some artists/bands would not have this but they would have the first reason as a reason not to do both mixing and recording on one day. It can be hard if you are working on a computer music production but you really must learn to leave it alone and give your mind and ears a rest; do something that uses your other senses and do not sit in the same place that you will mix in when you are not mixing.

There are many other music mixing tips to consider if you are interested in helping yourself understand how to produce music. I believe that if anyone ever wants to improve their music mixing techniques they should take a look at THIS website. It could be the case that you are stuck and do not know what to do next or it could be you are wanting to learn more skills and 'tricks of the trade', either way you should take a look.

By Steven Grout

Enjoying the Experience of a Music Festival By Keith Barrett

Music festivals provide a great opportunity to get together with people who have similar musical tastes and to watch some great live bands. Since most festivals will bring together a large number of bands, you could be watching a number of your favourite artists in a relatively short amount of time.

With some musicians making less income from record sales, many have realised that there's money to be made from live performances. That helps to explain why there are so many more festivals now when compared to a decade ago. But it's not the only explanation.

Another key factor is that so many people love attending these events. If you've not been to one before then you may be interested in our overview here, which will help you to make the most of the experience.

One thing to point out is that the very largest events now operate on a grand basis. That means that they'll often have multiple stages, with acts performing simultaneously. Fortunately, the stages are often for specific musical genres, meaning that you probably won't often have a situation where two bands that you like are playing at the same time, on different stages.

Such instances do occur though. That's why you can really make the most of things by making sure that you're aware of the timetable of events. By doing so, you can plan your day well in advance to make sure that you see the acts that you really want to see.

The beauty of a festival is that you'll have the opportunity to quickly move between stages, allowing you to be that bit more flexible.

If there's a particular act that you're really desperate to see then you might consider arriving at that stage a little early. That way, you'll be able to grab a spot in the crowd that will give you the sort of view that you want.

Don't forget that most bands will sound completely different when they are playing in front of a live audience. Embrace that different sound - it's all part of the fun of a music festival!

Writing Songs Nashville Style By Joseph A. Russ

For those who want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer or any other "normal" vocation, all you have to do is select where you want to go to school, go there and graduate and find a job in your chosen field. For those who want to be professional songwriters, it isn't quite that easy.

Even if there were a school where you could get a masters degree in songwriting, there isn't once accepted way to write songs so a course plan would be extremely difficult to assemble. Songwriters basically learn how to write songs from other songwriters, borrowing from each one until it all comes together and they can write their own songs successfully.

It is for this reason I decided to write this series of articles, to give you the real scoop on how to be successful as a professional songwriter. You can go to all the websites you want to and read all the books you can find, but there is nothing like living in Nashville where you can meet and write with other songwriters.

I had done the former for a long time when I got to Nashville and began pitching my songs to Nashville Music Publishers. From the time I got to Nashville it took me 3 years before I understood how to write a song good enough to be published by a real Nashville Music Publisher.

In this first article I will outline the important parts of a hit song and break them down individually in later articles. The first thing you need is a good idea for a song. Many new songwriters will write their first songs about their own experiences, things like the girl that broke his heart or looking forward to Friday so he can get off work and play all weekend.

Remember this, a professional songwriter is one who makes money writing songs. To make money writing songs you must write songs that recording artists will want to record on their CDs. When artists look for those songs, they look for songs that will make the general public, those that buy CDs, pull out their wallets and purses and spend money on the music they like. People buy CDs because they heard a song they can relate to. Something in the song touched them emotionally and motivated them to go out and buy the music. That's what it boils down to. They won't buy a CD of songs about the songwriter's experiences. No, they will buy music that relates to their life. SO the point is, when you are trying to find good ideas for songs, think about what average people all over America go through every day in their lives.

Once you have an idea, you need a good title. The best titles almost write themselves. The best titles are those that get your attention and are easy to remember. Examples of great titles are "Bye Bye Miss American Pie", "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Hello, I Love You Won't You Tell Me Your Name" and "Reeling In the Years". Obviously, many great songs have been written with simple titles like "Hello", "Amie", "Cherish" and "Margaritaville", but always strive for the great title.

When you begin to write your lyrics, the most important thing to remember is make sure every line addresses the main topic of the song. Simply put, if you are writing a song about apples, make every word in the song be about apples. Don't write "I love apples very much" in verse 1 and in verse 2 start extolling on your affections for oranges. You have 3-4 minutes to tell the whole story, don't get sidetracked.

Both the music and the lyrics of any song must communicate to the listener in a meaningful and artistic way getting the idea of your song across to them easily. If they have to struggle to understand the meaning, you will lose them and your effort has been wasted.

As a rule, in Pop or Rock music, the music is the most important aspect, but the lyrics still must communicate the meaning of the song. When writing Country songs on the other hand, the lyrics are king. Country songs tell a story and that's why these songs are loved. Average Americans identify with them and take them to heart. In my view, if you can write a hit Country song, you can write any type of song.

If you know how to come up with a good idea for a song, can create a great title, and know how to create lyrics that will move listeners emotionally, you have the basics of good songwriting. In upcoming articles I will cover other songwriting areas like hooks, rhyme schemes, melody, song structure, chord progressions and demos. See you then.

By Joseph A. Sure, I knew about Marvel and its characters, and I've read a few titles throughout my life and even seen some of the cartoons. But I always came back to DC. Once Marvel opened the cinematic gates of their world via a major summer movie with "X-Men" in 2000, I've been hungry to know more about these characters and the world of the mutants. Today I had the opportunity to watch "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and saw a bit more about this world and Logan himself.

I'll admit that I don't know the exact details and history of Wolverine, so I have to be honest and say that I don't know if this movie is accurate or not. I can say however that I enjoyed this movie very much and feel like I know more about Logan and what drives him and his actions. We know from the first movie that a person's mutation usually reveals itself when the person is under extreme distress. It seems this would be the case with Logan himself. The film begins with us discovering how he comes to know that he is not like most people. It was very reminiscent of Magneto's origin show in the first movie. I really felt an emotional connection with the young Logan and the struggle going on in his head. Hugh Jackman bears his claws with just as much ease as the previous films. No one can deny that he IS "Wolverine", and has made a fully realized character of this iconic mutant. This movie shows us more of his humanity than ever before, and not just the mutation he possesses.

We also learn more about Sabretooth, as played here by Liev Schreiber. This is certainly a better portrayal than we saw in the original film. Back then he was made out to be a mindless soldier, unable to think for himself, and who simply was a wild animal who was tamed by Magneto. In this movie, he is cunning, hungry for power, fast, possesses extreme strength, and who shares more with Logan than we ever knew previously. He shares a bond and history with Logan that has affected both of their lives and the direction each has chosen to go with their actions. The thing I enjoy most about this movie is the portrayal of both these characters and the scenes they share together.

There are a couple of other strong performances including Danny Huston as William Stryker and Lynn Collins as Logan's love interest Kayla Silverfox. Stryker is much younger than the last time we saw him in the second movie, but the part that he plays in Wolverine life is fleshed out and is the primary focus of the plot. I felt that the continuity of the second film is continued in this one including the production design of the Weapon X program lab and they have kept the key plot plots brought out from before. His primary weapon to use against Wolverine is Silverfox herself. The story told about Wolverine, Sabretooth, Silverfox and Stryker are the highlights of this film.

The few issues I have with this movie are the sheer number of characters that have been incorporated in the plotline. There are simply too many people to juggle and try to give any kind of character development. Granted, some of these characters are incredibly cool like Gambit, Deadpool and the Blob, however there simply isn't enough time to flesh out all of these characters and do them any justice.

There are some incredible action pieces in the film that fully utilize all of the abilities of the various characters, however I really wish they had stuck with the story of just Wolverine, his role in the Weapon X project, the past he shares with Sabretooth and the his relationship with Silverfox. However, I think this is a much stronger film than the previous X-Men film and I really think that with more character development fewer characters, a line of origin films could be incredibly insightful and entertaining. If you've enjoyed the world of mutants and want to enjoy two hours in a theater, I recommend going to see Wolverine and learn a little more about what makes him tick.
By Adam Renfro

Angels and Demons Movie Review By Adam Renfro

Generally speaking, I think most people lower their expectations when going into a movie sequel. All of us can probably name numerous franchises that never live up to the original in the series. However, when the sequel not only lives up to the first but surpasses it, the sequel can raise the bar and raise our level of anticipation for a third. Recently, movies like "The Dark Knight", "The Incredible Hulk" and "Toy Story 2" have all taken the lead from their predecessor, and made us hope the next maintains the new level of excellence. I think "Angels & Demons" can now be added to that list.

I read the book of "Angels & demons" before I read "The Da Vinci code". Quite honestly, I enjoyed "Angels & demons" much more and therefore my hopes for the film were quite high. I remember thinking that "The Da Vinci code" was a good film but seemed rather long, slowly paced, and I kept wondering why tom hanks was given the role of Robert Langdon and what in the world were they thinking about his hair. They seemed to have taken the criticism from the first film and corrected their mistakes. Tom hanks has slimmed down, been given a hair cut and is shown enjoying Langdon's favorite past time of swimming with the physique to match. This film clocks in at about 2 hours and 20 minutes, about the same length as the first film, but the pacing of this one is more taut and tightly paced.

Without giving away the entire plot, the story revolves around an ancient society called the "Illuminati" and their connection to the Catholic Church and a desire to destroy the church. Robert Langdon is brought in to help uncover this plot due to a book he has written about the "illuminati" and his connection to the church from "The Da Vinci Code". This takes us on a race around Rome searching for clues to the location of a bomb threatening Vatican City and a time table that keeps the action constant. This action is pushed forward and heightened by the brilliant score by Hans Zimmer.

The performances were outstanding, particularly from Ewan McGregor and Tom Hanks seems to have grown more comfortable in the role. The two of them are the driving forces of this movie. Tom Hanks is given much more to do in this film other than just looking for clues and symbols. He uses that knowledge but is also put in some thrilling situations and given action sequences you might see in a Jason Bourne movie. With the clock constantly ticking down and shown on the screen, we are kept on the edge of our seats hoping that the next clue is found in time before time runs out.

I'll admit that I'm finding it difficult to write about this movie, but for no other reason than I don't want to give too much away. I felt this was far better than "The Da Vinci Code" as a movie and as a book. Even though I knew what to expect next, I couldn't wait to see how they were going to pull it off on screen. I also like the fact that you didn't need to see the first movie or any of the events that happened there in order to enjoy this one and know exactly what was happening or who Robert Langdon is as a character. Go see this movie and hopefully you'll be just as anxious for the next book and movie as I am. Dan Brown's new book, "The Lost Symbol", will be released on September 15, 2009.
By Adam Renfro

Caprica! The New Battlestar Galactica Prequel By Adam Renfro

I'm a huge fan of the new version of "Battlestar Galactica!" That show is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. The story arc continued throughout the entire series and the ending of the show made complete sense, answered the questions I had, and left you with some mysteries of their past and future that made you hope for more. When I heard that a new show from the creators of Battlestar was coming out and would be set in this same incredible world, I knew I had to see it ASAP. They have released the extended pilot episode of "Caprica" on DVD this past week, however the show is not set to begin airing until the fall of 2009 or possibly the beginning of 2010.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this show, but what I saw on this disc was amazing! Caprica is set about 50 years before the events of Battlestar and takes place on the planet Caprica that has yet to meet or fear the Cylons. They live in a world much like ours only with more advanced technology and with eleven other sister planets and colonies in their galaxy. We get to meet Joseph Adama, the father of Admiral William Adama from the first show and we also meet William as a young boy before he ever fights against the Cylons or tries to save humanity when their planets are destroyed.

We are also introduced to the Graystone family. The father, Daniel, seems to be a genius who is the owner of a technology company that is at the forefront of robotics and artificial intelligence. It seems that his love of all things computerized has been passed down to his daughter, Zoe. All indications point to the fact that this family contributes to the development of the Cylons and the birth of their resurrection technology.

I felt that the origin story for this new series did a great job of tying together familiar names, people and history of the Capricans before there is ever a Cylon threat. It also opens the door to how the Cylons came to be and I'm certain that we will learn more of their development in the new show. The premise of the one god, told at length in Battlestar, is also explored further here and shows that many people followed this belief and religion before the Cylons came into the picture. I am eager to find out where the creators will take this story and how much of this history they will tell. Will they show the Cylon revolt that led to the first Cylon war? Will they explore how the 12 models were created? Are their other Cylons on the planet that we didn't know before or will we see familiar faces pop up throughout the series?

I'm not certain how many new fans this series will generate. I would highly recommend you watch the entire series of Battlestar Galactica before venturing on to Caprica. Never the less, this story was very interesting, highly entertaining, thought provoking, well made, and would make a great place to start the Cylon saga. I can't frakkin wait to see where they go from here!
By Adam Renfro

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chaddyprincess2.blogspot.com/2009/06/caprica-new-battlestar-galactica.html' title='Caprica! By Gary Terzza

If you wanted to be a doctor, lawyer or plumber you would have a clear career path to follow, exams to take, practical experience to gain, and professional bodies to join. The road map to your chosen job would be well defined and structured. If you had not achieved your dream by a certain age, you would probably have to give up.

But what if you wanted to do voice overs for a living, or even part time? Say you harboured a dream to narrate children's stories, do animation and video game voices, or introduce your favourite TV programmes - where on earth would you start? There is no career path here, no academic courses at colleges or university; even a drama syllabus may not cover such a niche interest.

In the voice over world, there is no one size fits all job: you can't be too old, too posh, or too common; every voice style has a market from child through to senior and everything in between. Confusingly it all seems, well, so vague and obscure. It is as though 'planet voice over' were a far off place, impregnable, self contained and elitist. However people (yes ordinary people) do become voice over performers. They are not necessarily actors or radio professionals; they come from all walks of life and bring skills and experience from the real world that enrich their delivery.

So where, exactly, do you start? First, forget the idea that you have to possess a great sounding voice. It's like art: one person's Mona Lisa is another's pile of bricks. In other words totally subjective. Reading and specifically reading out loud, is the most important quality. It is how you bring a script (that is somebody else's words) to life. Practise makes perfect, so the more you read aloud the better. Lock yourself away in a quiet room and try reading short extracts from magazines, newspapers, novels, in fact anything you can lay your hands on. You could even try writing your own scripts, which will give you an insight into how a client sells a product or idea.

Then you will need to record a showreel. This will become your audio calling card - without it no one will know what you sound like. Keep your scripts short and add variety into the mix. That means commercials (from upbeat to soft) audiobook narration, a corporate/business type read, interactive phone message and (this is optional and only for the seriously talented) character voice montage. You can hire a local studio for a few hours, record at home if you have the facilities, or ask a professional trainer to help you.

After this comes the really hard part: promoting your reel (which should be on CD and perhaps a website too). You could approach voice over agents, but many of these will want experience first before considering representing you. You can achieve this by signing up to the numerous voiceover marketplaces that can be found on the web. They offer a chance for voice talents to show off their wares and meet potential clients, do auditions and most importantly get those jobs.

So it may be too late to become an astronaut, but your dreams of a career in voice overs are not out of this world.
By Gary Terzza

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chaddyprincess2.blogspot.com/2009/06/voice-over-work-how-do-you-become.html' title='Voice Over Work - How Do You Become a Voiceover Artist? Most of these stores are aimed at teenagers and young adults, who are more open to wearing costumes and also enjoy standing out due to their clothes. It is important for many young people to make a statement or tell you about their personality through their costumes.

This is why cosplay has become so popular. If you are considering to do cosplay the most important part is deciding what character to be. Think about what characters you love from all the common cosplay mediums such as video games, manga, anime, or movies. If you can think of a wonderful costume that a character has worn that you absolutely loved that is another great choice for cosplay.

When doing cosplay the best route is to create your own costume, this means just the basic costume. It is important because the costume will fit you better and can be exactly what you want if you create it yourself. However, it is fine to use some bought materials for certain pieces like jewelry a character always wears or maybe a symbol. Naruto cosplay costumes should be exact for example, make sure to get contacts if cosplaying as Sasuke.

Here is some general information about Uzumaki Naruto. He was born October 10th and is now 13 years old. He comes from Leaf and is a Genin. He is a Libra and has numerous teachers who have helped him. His goal is to make the village appreciate him.

About 13 years ago, demon called Kyuubi attacked Leaf. To protect the entire village the 4th hokage sealed Kyuubi inside a baby. The baby, which holds the demon inside him was Uzumaki Naruto.

Naruto was hated by everyone in the village because they viewed him as the demon itself. So Naruto was always alone while growing up and had no friends. He became determined to be the best hokage so that the people in village would accept and appreciate him.

Naruto does gain approval from the 3rd hokage known as Unimo Iruka and Konohamaru. However, the only person Naruto wants to notice him now is Sakura because she is his crush. The only problem is that she has a crush on Sasuke. This is the reason Sasuke is the biggest rival to Naruto.

Naruto is a ninja, but he is also wonderful at connecting with troubled children like himself and has helped out a number of people. Naruto helps out Jiraiya by forcing him to study for the Chuunin exams, so they became extremely close and Naruto thought of him as a father figure. Naruto helped out Tsunade by saving him from Kabuto and making him become the 5th hokage.

Now that you understand the characters in Naruto, it is time to pick what Nauto cosplay costume you will make. Naruto cosplay costumes can be a number of people depending on what character you like the most or which character you look the most like. For example if you have black hair a good Naruto cosplay costume would be Sasuke. But if you have blonde hair it may be better to dress up as Naruto himself.By Maison Rosca

In Transformers 2 - Who Are the Main Transformers? By Michael Nielsen

Transformers became the biggest sensation when it was released in 2007, the older generation was reminded of their once favorite characters and the younger generation loved the super new form of the old robots.

Now, Michael Bay is back again with Transformer - Revenge of the Fallen. The movie stars all of the old transformers as well as some new ones. The two rivals Autobots and Decepticons are fighting a ferocious battle.

Optimus Prime is leading the Autobot troops. He is his brave and fearless. Peter Cullen has given his voice for the character. As before he disguises himself as a blue Peterbilt truck and it has red flame decals on it. He is the mightiest and wisest Autobot of all. In transformers-revenge of the fallen he fights for the welfare of human kind against his own kind.
By Michael Nielsen

Decepticons are being lead by Megatron once again. In transformers Megatron was destroyed by Sam but now he rises again. He was thrown into the Laurentian Abyss by the Autobots, now he is raised by the Constructicons with the help of Allspark and he disguises in the form of a Cybertronian tank. Some sources say that he is now a Triple Changer and transforms into a jet mode as well. However, he is stronger and crueler than before.

Decepticons have another secret weapon, The Fallen. As the name of the movie suggests The Fallen has a lot of significance in the movie. The Fallen was one of the first thirteen original transformers, but he had evil plans and corrupted Megatron and urged him to form the Decepticons. Now, he is again woken up from the bottom of the sea by the Constructicons, where he had been laying for thousand of years. This time he will also join hands with the Decepticons and come to fight against the Autobots and humans. Rumors have it that Leonard Nimoy is voicing the character of The Fallen.

Mark Ryan once again voices Bumblebee. The favorite fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, Sam's friend and alley is back again. In the sequel Bumblebee is separated from Sam but rejoins him in Egypt where the encounter between the Decepticons and Autobots takes place. There he alongside Sam and other Autobots fights the evil Decepticons.

Starscream is also important part of the movie. He is imperative to the Decepticons. Starscream is the air commander of the Decepticons. He disguises himself as an F-22 Raptor. In the previous film he did not have a major role and flew back to space but now he returns with evil motives and plans on taking over the world but alone as a commander himself.

Soundwave also a vital part of the Decepticons acts as their intelligence officer. He transforms into a Cybertronian craft with jet and satellite capabilities. He takes the shape of a Cybertronian craft. Soundwave is voiced by Frank Welker. Now the audience awaits the release of the movie to see in detail how the characters play their own significant roles in the film.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chaddyprincess2.blogspot.com/2009/06/in-transformers-2-who-are-main.html' title='In Transformers 2 - Who Are the Main Transformers? Two fighter groups, the Autobots and Decepticons, are in the front line. People mostly love the Autobots and hate the Decepticons.
After viewing the reviews from people from all over the world, it is obvious that Megatron is the most hated Transformer. Hugo Weaving voiced this character, and Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons. He was destroyed and thrown away into the Laurentian Abyss in the first film.

He is brought back to life by other members of the Constructicons with dead 'robot' parts. He is now more powerful as an outcome of his reformation by getting the Allspark waste that initially murdered him. When revitalising Megatron, the writers decided not to change his name in order to avoid any confusion.

Then there is The Fallen, who is one of the actual thirteen Transformers. People hate him because he is the one who manipulated Megatron into creating the Decepticons. He is ensnared in a new dimension but continued exchanging words with the Decepticons by means of an inter-dimensional window. This window destroyed the Fallen's face. His misshaped face inspired the Decepticons to use it as a symbol.

People who made this movie selected the Fallen for this film because they too thought that he is the most loathsome villain ever.

Another hated name amongst the Transformers is 'Mixmaster', who is capable of transforming into a black and silver Mack concrete mixer truck. He makes the head of the Devastator; the ultimate evil. Its most hateful characteristic is that he can make acid, and that acid can destroy even steel doors. He also generates a smoke screen that is also very vicious and can destroy anything.

Like other Constructicons, Long Haul is also despised by many people around the world. They hate the fact that he takes part in the completion of Devastator. Without him, Devastator remains incomplete as it makes the right leg of this evil character in the film.

Another reason to hate this character is that it tried hard and brought Megatron back to life and opened a new chapter of destruction on the face of the earth. People were happy to know that Megatron is not alive anymore, and now the world and other parts of the universe can rest in peace. But with the selfish struggle of Long Haul, they were disappointed again.

The last but not the least revolting Transformer is Devastator, who is formed by the combination of six or seven Constructicons. He is very powerful and eager to eliminate the Autobots from the face of this universe. This cruel fact is not accepted by the audience because most of us adore the Autobots for their noble personalities and honest reasons to fight with their enemy.

Devastator is a gigantic Decepticon with massive strength but the fact is he is not as smart as he appears to be. It is easy to trick him because he is not very intelligent. But when he is on his mission, it seems almost impossible to defeat him because of his countless powers.

By Michael Nielsen

Summer TV Offers Some Treasures If You Look By K Cox

Normally Summer television is a sea of reruns from late May to early September. A new characteristic of Summer TV these days is reality shows, and there are plenty to be found. You can follow along with the adventures of "John and Kate Plus 8" on TLC (or more accurately John minus Kate), or revel in the fact that you aren't actually one of the contestants whose pratfalls provide endless entertainment on ABC's "Wipeout." One bright spot in reality TV is new episodes of "Ghost Hunters" on Sci-Fi.

Now back to scripted TV. HBO's take on the current vampire craze started by "Twilight" is back for a second season. "True Blood" returns June 14.

"Mental" is a medical mystery drama featuring Dr. Jack Gallagher (Chris Vance) as an unorthodox psychiatrist who becomes Director of Mental Health Services at a Los Angeles hospital (think "House" lite.)
By K Cox

"The Goode Family" on ABC is an animated sitcom from Mike Judge of King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head fame. This would edgy if it was 1994, but in 2009 it comes off as a "Family Guy" clone.

ABC also offers "Dating in the Dark," a new reality dating series will follow single men and women as they go through all the usual motions of dating without ever actually seeing each other. (Think a twisted a variation on The Dating Game for the 21st century.)

TNT serves up the fifth season of "The Closer" with Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. The first episode focused on a quadruple murder that may be linked to an FBI case, in other words, business as usual for this refreshing crime series.

CBS will run the remaining episodes of "Harper's Island" (already moved from Thursdays to Saturdays) up through mid-July. The who-done-it about a series of murders on an island full of wedding guests and an about to be bride and groom (none of whom have sense enough to flee the island even as the body count rises) where a serial killer went on a rampage seven years prior lost my interest after 2 episodes.

Happy Summer viewing.

HD Vs Film - The Great Debate By Steve Lantz

The great debate is on...HD vs Film. Which format best suits your particular project?

The HD world has changed dramatically over the past few years. Many believe the gap between film and digital video has been closed with the advent of new ultra-high resolution, 35mm-sized, single-chip HD cameras that offer superior color reproduction and exposure latitude comparable to 35mm. All professional filmstyle HD cameras are capable of true progressive frame, 24 frames-per-second (24p) capture and provide other film-style features, such as multiple frame rates, variable shutter and cine-like gamma curves that mimic the tonal qualities of film. In addition, all of these cameras accept 35mm film lenses and accessories (some require adaptors such as the P+S Technik Pro35 and Mini35) which assures the exact same focal lengths and relatively shallow depth-of-field associated with 35mm optics.

The movie industry has changed radically over the past decade. Now there are distribution opportunities for small independents that never existed before. Indies have already proven that they too can be successful and profitable at the box office. While HD cameras are now affordable and in the hands of many independent filmmakers, the rules still stand that to be successful in the movie market, you need to make good films. Film festivals and internet sites like YouTube have opened the doors to Indie filmmakers, providing easy access to large audiences. The number of film festivals around the world has exploded, from a handful to literally thousands and each festival receives hundreds and thousands of entries. Both Panavision and Arriflex have joined the digital revolution, recognizing the increased demand for digital acquisition, especially in TV and Indy film production where budgets are tight. A typical 100-minute low-budget feature production will save over $150,000 shooting HD versus 35mm and save $50,000 over 16mm. On a low-budget production, these cost savings are significant.

The digital workflow has taken over film in many areas, especially in post-production. Almost all editing today is performed on non-linear systems and the vast majority of special effects are created through a digital pipeline. In addition, HD is becoming the universal format for distribution, including HD television broadcast and home entertainment (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray HD players are now on the market). HD theatrical distribution will soon follow. Currently, the movie industry spends close to a billion dollars per year on prints, shipping, insurance and other costs, all of which will be eliminated with satellite distribution of HD films for 4K/HD projection. The projected cost savings to the movie industry is enormous and will ultimately be the driving force that will propel the world into HD exhibition.

Exhibitors will also benefit from HD projectors that are solid state and require little maintenance. Pricing on HD projectors will drop dramatically with economies of scale and will quickly be amortized considering the significant savings in operating costs compared to 35mm projection. For example, showtimes can be programmed into digital projectors allowing automatic start and full automation, thus eliminating the need for projectionists and saving theater owners time in training, salaries and expensive worker's compensation premiums. Landmark Theaters has already begun the process of installing HD projectors into many of their theaters and others are following suit. Conservative estimates suggest that 50% of all theaters in the United States will be converted to HD projection within the next five to seven years and over 80% within the next ten years.

HD offers several distinct advantages over film during shooting, such as immediate playback and monitoring of your finished image. LUT's are used to define different looks for the film or the final look of the film print and output that look onto a high-definition display. LUT's can be saved for future film projects or episodes should you want to replicate a similar look. Camera settings can also be saved for future projects so that you can match a particular look exactly (very handy for TV series production). HD monitoring allows you to catch things and make corrections on the fly, while you are in the moment. HD cameras excel over 35mm at locations where you have mixed light sources and don't have the luxury of setting up your own controlled lighting. HD cameras can white balance, film cannot. HD also excels over film in the effects world, where it is possible to view green and blue screen composites on the set, fine-tune alignments in real-time, and give the director a close representation of the finished product.

While there are many who continue to argue that HD is, and will always be, inferior to film, the truth is an HD feature properly lit and exposed looks very close to 35mm and the aesthetic difference is virtually transparent to the audience. Your average movie patron really doesn't know or care what format the film was shot in. All they really care about, and all that really matters ultimately, is that they are entertained. A great story with the right cast and skillful directing goes a long way and it certainly stands to reason that as more people become used to watching HD films, the "look" of HD will become the accepted "norm".

The writing is on the wall. Film will still be the format of choice for a while, especially on large budget features, but eventually one could certainly speculate that the entire process of making films will be entirely digital.

By Steve Lantz

Bedtime Stories - Christian Movie Review By Lara Velez

A review of the movie, Bedtime Stories from a Christian perspective.

Movie Title: Bedtime Stories
Rating: PG
Director: Adam Shankman
Staring: Adam Sandler; Courteney Cox; Keri Russell; Russell Brand; Richard Griffiths; Guy Pearce and Lucy Lawless
Category: Comedy

Christian Perspective Rating: 6 out of 10

Intro: A fairly decent comedy starring one of my least favorite actors, Adam Sandler.

Review: I would like to just ponder for a moment...what is it with Walt Disney pictures and the lack to complete and healthy families? Yet another film with a single parent. Sure, there are MANY single parents out there and I am not trying to put them down. It's just man, can we have some happily married couples? It's alarming how few there are in Disney films...

OK, rant off...LOL...back to Bedtime Stories...

This was a comedy that stayed cleaner than I expected. One of the reasons I am not fond of Adam is he likes to star in comedies that have crude humor. I believe we can make funny films that do not make use of crudeness.

It is certainly NOT crude free. However, a lot less crude than what I would normally expect. LOL!

Conclusion: There may have been less crude humor, but there was no lack of poor character building. There were quite a few bad lessons in the movie. Children take these movies seriously. They learn that lying, cheating, and adult encouraging a 6 year old boy to kiss girls, (as well as many other not very good "lessons" can be found in this film) are funny and "light."

My little one was repeating some stuff I did not like...we had to have a pow wow....or as my teenager likes to call it, a "lecture." Guess what though? My teenager actually appreciates my lectures! WOW! Go figure!

It is definitely a film that will require a nice chat with your younger children when it is over. Keep in mind, as Christian Mothers, we need to make sure we are aware that it is never "just a movie." What we see and hear affects us more than we realize or care to admit. As Mothers, we have the responsibility to train our children up and teach them what is right and what is not.

It was OK. However, I do not think I will buy this film so that my girls can watch it over and over.

By Lara Velez

South Indian Actresses - The Hottest Ones By Vee Kumar

South Indian cinema comprises of the movies of many languages and many genres. Earlier it needed a bit of luck to meet some music producers who can appreciate their talent. However these days the scenario has changed a little. The emergence of the singing competition based TV shows has changed the rules of the game. They have given a lot of chances to a lot of singers and still continue to do so.

These days three singing contest based TV shows are much more popular than any other shows among the common audience. Here is a look at them.

1. American Idol:

American Idol, the show and its concept has emerged as one of the most prominent pop culture phenomenon around the world. It has seen unmatched success in the United States and has inspired a lot of reality TV shows that were based on the same concept.

The singing competition show started way back in the year 2002, the network was Fox. Now in its 6th season the show has what it needs to keep people engaged in its singing contest.

The show's success can also be contributed to the three people who sit on its judge's panel. They are Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. The host of the show is Ryan Seacrest as its host. The viewers participate in the show's happenings through voting. The show is really popular and is still growing from strength to strength.

2) Making the Band:

Making the Band is also a reality based signing contest that has become even more popular over the years. Unlike the American Idol concept the focus here is on finding a group of individuals, who can be shaped as a band.

The show was premiered way back in the year 1999. At start it used to come on the ABC network, but soon it went on to MTV. Currently in its 4th season the singing competition has become really grueling. The lucky people who will be chosen as a group will be sent on tours to give interviews and live performances.

The first season formed an all male bad, the second formed a hip hop group, the third season resulted in the formation of an all female band and the fourth season again is focusing on an all male band.

3) Grease - You're The One That I Want!

Grease - You're The One That I Want, is a popular singing competition show, which is among the most popular programs on NBC. The competition has an aim of choosing a total of two leads for the production of the hit musical Grease on Broadway when it premieres this year.

Like American Idol this singing competition also has three popular judges, Jim Jacobs, David Ian and Kathleen Marshall. It has two hosts, Billy Bush and Denise Van Outen. Also like American idol the viewers are asked to send in their votes for their favorite contestants.

By Michael Badagliacco

School Assembly Resources Required For Easter Songs By Brendon Renwick

Calculating the importance of music among kids at an early age is extremely vital, and also forms an essential part during kids' educational development. One of the most accessible types of musical education for kids is singing. Kids just love to sing and if you have noticed the zeal they show while singing Easter songs you will be able to fathom the interest and zeal they show in the same. To enhance confidence of kids, as far as singing it required, it is important that the educational institution has the proper school assembly resources and there are many sites on the net where one can find them.

Though most kids have the ability to sing properly (they do not have the mental barriers of adults) their confidence can be enhanced by making them take part in singing groups and the best time for this is during Christmas when groups of kids sing Easter songs along in a group. Most schools have an assembly hall where kids can practice and hone their singing skills but most of them are ill equipped as far as school assembly resources are concerned.

Singing properly requires that proper school assembly resources are available at the disposal of the kids who are going to rehearse Easter songs and, without such resources, the whole effort might be wasted. But there are occasions when one might just not find the proper resources for such occasions. Keeping these things in mind a number of musical education resource companies have accepted the challenge and are offering properly composed compilations of primary school assembly resources along with songs the Easter season has been on the searching for.

Searching for a collection of Easter songs suitable for kids might prove to be a daunting task for the teachers and most of them take an easy route by selecting Easter songs from the school's collection. This is not the correct step and just manages to spoil the entire show because most of these songs are not meant to be sung by kids. However, the light at the end of the tunnel is now shining brightly with a number of companies that specialise in music education resources coming to the fore and offering solutions in the form of music resources specialized for kids. Countless schools all over the world have been able to deliver successful performances, thanks to these resources.
By Brendon Renwick

Ideas For Planning an Outdoor Wedding Reception By Ted Bilodeau

Having an outdoor wedding reception comes with a lot of benefits. An outdoor reception can save you a lot of money, it can make for a far more picturesque wedding, and it makes decorating a lot easier. Here are some great ideas that will eliminate hassle and help you have the reception of your dreams outdoors.

Venues for a Reception Outdoors

Mother Nature certainly has many wonderful locations to offer you that provide the perfect setting for an outdoor reception. If you are on a budget, the easiest place to have your reception outdoors is your back yard or that of a family member. With the right decorations and ambience, you can create a gorgeous and elegant reception in a back yard.

Wedding reception places outdoors that will require more planning on your part to reserve and set up include a farm or estate, a garden, the beach, a lake front property, the forest, or the mountains. Planning a destination wedding away from home provides you with the opportunity to explore exotic outdoor locations for your ceremony and reception.

Must-Have Items at an Outdoor Reception

Generally speaking, outdoor receptions allow you to be far more creative and provide a much more relaxing setting than your typical indoor receptions do. However, you need to make the necessary preparations to ensure that the reception runs smoothly and have a back-up plan in case the weather gets bad. It's recommended to compile a to-do list in order to make planning your outdoor wedding reception hassle-free.

Some things you might want to put on your to-do list include finding a gazebo or tent to rent and confirming a rental date, renting tables and chairs, hiring a live band or DJ, and staying updated on weather conditions. Essential items that you'll need to obtain for your reception outdoors include lights and décor. Lights are a necessity if you are planning for the festivities to go on until after sunset. If you are having a large wedding, it's a good idea to leave it to professionals to hang up the lights to avoid injuries. Decorations must be wind-proof so make sure your table cloths are heavy and your candles have hurricanes. You'll also want to do whatever it takes to ensure that your guests stay comfortable. If the weather is a bit on the cold side, provide heat lamps so the guests can stay warm. Use citronella candles if insects are a problem.

Food and Photography at an Outdoor Reception

Wedding reception places outdoors provide the ultimate setting for gorgeous wedding photographs. Whether you want to marry on a beach at sunset or exchange your vows amidst the fall leaves changing colors, make sure to capture those unforgettable moments on camera. Your best bet is to hire a professional photographer but if you're on a tight budget, you can also leave disposable wedding cameras on each table and have your guests take pictures.

When deciding on a menu for your outdoor wedding reception, you have to determine whether you want to hire a professional caterer or if you'd rather provide the food yourself. You can also have a potluck style reception if it's a small wedding. A caterer can take care of every detail of food service and clean up but it can be costly. Make sure nothing that spoils easily is served in case the temperature rises and ask the caterer to use fondant for the cake frosting because it is smooth, durable, and won't spoil like buttermilk.

So there you have it. Make your wedding one-of-a-kind like your love and save yourself a ton of money by planning your reception outdoors. An outdoor wedding reception brings an element of natural beauty to your reception and provides a more relaxed atmosphere for both you and your guests. Use these ideas to make planning the outdoor reception of your dreams a hassle-free endeavor.
By Ted Bilodeau

How to Organise a Race Night in Scotland - And Keep it Legal! By Michael Breck

Running a Race Night is a very popular method of raising money for good causes in Scotland. As well as being a great form of entertainment, it also offers a very high profit margin after all your expenses have been deducted.

However, one of the most common questions that people ask when trying to book one is whether it is legal. There is a lot of misinformation going around on this subject, so hopefully this article will make the current legal situation clear.

The Legalities

Yes, running it is legal if you run it properly. When it is run according to the rules, it becomes a lottery as defined in the Lotteries and Amusement Act of 1976. The films become just an entertaining way of selecting a winning number at random and the tote 'betting' tickets are just chances in a lottery, where nobody knows which number will win.

A professional compere will ensure that the race films are picked at random, none of the actual runners on the film are named, and no 'form' (information about the runners) is given until all the bets have been placed. The films are then shown in their entirety after the betting has finished.

Another important point to remember is that it should not be the only form of entertainment on the night. So, you should also have a disco, quiz, food, presentation event, or a social meeting to ensure that the Race Night is not the main or sole inducement of the night.

Professional Race Night companies are governed by the Charities Act 1992 and have a set of rules, which professional, fund-raisers must follow. The company will have an agreement or legal contract with the organisations they support and will ensure that they are registered charities or are running the Race Night to raise money for a charitable cause.

Professional Help

Some organisers just hire films and try to do everything themselves. However, to ensure you always comply with the law and obtain maximum profits for your good cause, you should always hire a reputable company to run the Race Night for you. The company will provide a compere and all the equipment you need such as the projector, sound system, and races. All you have to do is take the bets and the money on the night.

Which Company To Choose?

If the company is good, then it will not cost you much more than doing it yourself and you will be able to call on their professional support and advice when running your Race Night event.

However, like all other businesses, there are good ones and bad ones out there. Also, new ones spring up all the time, only to vanish after a few months. So, make sure the company is reliable and has a good track record. Ask them to provide evidence that they have been trading for at least ten years and supply testimonials from previous customers.

If you do this, then you will have a perfectly legal, highly profitable, and very successful Race Night.
By Michael Breck

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chaddyprincess2.blogspot.com/2009/06/how-to-organise-race-night-in-scotland.html' title='How to Organise a Race Night in Scotland - And Keep it Legal! However, as your repertoire becomes more complex you will need some props or other equipment for your performance.

Magic props come in all shapes and sizes. You can build your routine around simple things like a deck of cards, small animals or balloons. You can find a few common items in the grocery such as knives, paper or sugar cubes. But eventually you'll want to search out and find a good magic shop.

Not only will you be able to get all the props and equipment you need for your performance, the magic shop is great resource for new ideas and even places to perform.

If you require custom equipment you can go also about making it yourself. In centuries past, most magicians had to build their own props and equipment. Some tricks don't require anything more than some plywood and a few tools. Also, if your props are home made you can be sure that no one else will have a trick exactly like yours.

The first piece you may want to create is your magician's table. You can custom build it with hidden compartments to assist you with tricks where objects need to disappear.

Another important, although sometimes overlooked, piece of magician's equipment is the outfit. What the magician wears can be a critical part of the performance and set the tone for the audience. Many magicians also like to have customized outfits with hidden pockets or panels to assist with tricks. Unless you have a talent for sewing you may want to consult with a local tailor to get your outfit created.

Perhaps the most common prop in magic is the deck of cards. This may seem simple but there are many different types. There are different colors, sizes, marked cards, double faced and double backed cards just to name a few. Most magic stores will have a type of deck to accommodate any tricks you might be working on but some magicians have their cards customized as well. If you do go with customized cards remember that you want them to look as much like an "ordinary" deck of cards as possible. You want the audience to believe that the magic is coming from you, not the props.

If your audience consists of a large group of children then the use of animals in your tricks is a must. Usually a white rabbit or white doves work the best. Doves are the easiest to train and rabbits don't make noise or bite. Some magic stores will carry them but you can also get them at a local pet store.

If your trick calls for you to cover something with a handkerchief, you should opt for silk rather than a cotton handkerchief. Silk adds a touch of class and they are usually larger and come in a large variety of colors.

Complex magic tricks will almost always require some equipment or props so be prepared to go shopping or head out to the garage to make them yourself. Just remember that you make the magic happen, not the props. Also remember that fancy props are no substitute for honing your skills through practice and repetition. Master your craft and the right equipment will just add the finishing touch to your professional level performance.
By Cheri Brennan

How to Find Magic Trick Equipment By By Cheri Brennan

There are a few magic tricks you can perform with items you or your audience may have such as money, glasses or a box of matches. I'm sure many of us have done that. But like a popular star of Bollywood quips, it's not just talent, its' also a matter of chance and that not all the talented ones get such chance. Hence, it becomes very crucial for the enthusiasts to avail themselves of the opportunities that come their way. In such situations, online talent communities are blessings in disguise for the talented people worldwide.

Here are three simple steps to make a career in acting:

RUB: Record - Upload - Build network

Record:
Do not waste your talent. Select a movie scene (or just any drama or theatrical) that gives you scope to show your acting skills. Memorize the lines and understand the nuances of enacting the scene, such as costume, make-up, voice modulation, etc. Seek the help of a friend in recording the scene OR use a camera with the stand and adjust the focus, lighting, volume, etc. beforehand. Ensure you have good quality recording else your talent would go unnoticed. Rehearse the dialogues and go for a test run. If you are satisfied with the result, go for the final shot.

Upload:
This is the most crucial step in the process. Select talent sites that have specific category dedicated to acting or your video will be buried under thousands of irrelevant videos on the site. Make sure the site is not the regular video sharing site but an exclusive talent portal.

Build network:
A famous business tycoon once said, selling a product without advertising is like winking at a beautiful lady in the dark. She will never know you winked! You are trying to sell your talent so advertise. Tell your friends, relatives, neighbors, classmates and everyone you know to watch your talent and keep circulate it within their network. You never know. All roads may lead to Rome but your network could lead you to stardom!

Good luck.
By Rohan Singh

Play Guitar in Weeks?A Orr

"I want to learn to play the guitar". Sooner or later this thought pops into a lot of peoples minds. And that's a good thing. The guitar is a great instrument and very therapeutic for many people.
Do you have to take lessons locally for years? Not really. The best way to learn is with an exceptional online program. This way you can learn at your own pace and accomplish more. I know people that accomplished quite a bit in just a couple of weeks.
By studying guitar online you can learn very quickly. Usually you will by copying the instructor and seeing by video, exactly what he or she is doing. If you need to review, you can always rewind the video and practice until you have it down.
Most people don't need to study notation or tab to enjoy the guitar. A good majority of todays biggest stars have no idea how to read guitar music. Yet they are making great music and making a lot people very happy. The best part of guitar software is that you can practice at your convenience, not your teachers.
I recommend learning some chords and scales, and then taking an online course. There are some excellent ones out there at a very reasonable price. Be sure your program has tons of video and audio so that you can learn quickly and effectively. Just repeat what you see online and you wil learn very quickly.
So go ahead, what are you waiting for? By Tamara Jones

Are you tired of trying to explain to producers how you want a beat to sound and they don't do like you want it? Are you frustrated with producers' lack of communicating efficiently? Well, I'm an artist and I decided to learn how to make beats on my own because I couldn't find a producer to meet my needs.
Beats are very important if you're looking to have a hit song. It's the first aspect of the song the listener hears. Chances are, if they don't like the beat...they won't listen to the rest of the song. Why put so much responsibility on a producer? Some producers won't even go back to the track you bought to make any changes or edits. That's why I push artists to try to learn to make beats for themselves. Now making beats are not for everybody. You have to be dedicated. But if you're frustrated with producers like I was, it was the best decision I have ever made. Now I make beats and don't need to worry about finding a producer to do this or do that. I don't have to pay any money to a producer and I control it.
If you learn how to make beats, you can bring great opportunities like pitching your song to tv and film. With a producer involved, you have to split the payouts with them. If you are the producer and artist, you're entitled to all the money. So why split money when you can have it all?
By Tamara Jones

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chaddyprincess2.blogspot.com/2009/06/learn-how-to-make-beats-by-tamara-jones.html' title='Learn How to Make Beats! I know it's the age of the Internet and most people will listen to the content of their iPods rather than that of the radio stations. However there are still those that prefer the human interaction that a DJ offers and the fact that they don't exactly know what song will be played next while at the same time keeping informed about the new music that's coming out. Let's not forget the people that are stuck for long periods of time commuting back and forth to work. A lot of them will have the radio on. I am not talking here only about the top 40, commercial stations. There are plenty of smaller radio stations and specialty radio shows that cater to niche markets. Getting your music played on the radio still matters and can be very beneficial for your career.
Over the past couple of years radio has changed a lot. A lot of stations have consolidated under big conglomerates such as Clear Channel. There has been a growing emphasis on playing what the people want to hear and catering to the sponsors that provide the station's income through their advertisements.
So how do you, the underground artist, get on the radio? Well, there are a lot of ways but first you have to ask yourself a simple question: What are you trying to accomplish with your airplay and what's your budget? Trying to get promotion for your tour is a different from promoting your album. Your musical style (for example rock or hiphop) will also play a big part in choosing the right promo method. For underground music you will probably be looking for specialty shows and college radio stations.
You can DiY or you can use different services and target the stations and radio shows you are trying to hit. If you need to have a more professional job done and don't have a lot of experience in the radio business, you'll probably want to hire a radio promoter to do the job for you. This isn't cheap as it can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars for a campaign. Obviously if you are just starting out you'll probably want to keep the budget very low while still getting the biggest bang for your buck . The job of the radio promoter is to send the packages which contain your CD and a brief one-sheet and to follow up with the radio station. This might seem very simple and you might wonder why can't you send these packages and contact the radio station yourself. You can but your result will be limited.
Let's start by dispelling a common myth. If you think that the DJ controls songs that get played on the air then you are in for a rude awakening. In most cases it's the station's program director (PD) that calls the shots.
Most of the time a radio promoter will have already established a relationship with the PD at the station you are trying to get airplay from.
If you are trying to hit specialty radio shows, then in most cases you can get away with professional looking CDRs. If on the other hand you are trying to go for more commercial radio stations then you must have glass mastered CDs. Remember to put your best tracks first. If you think that a PD has time to go through three/four mediocre tracks in order to get to the good track you are dead wrong.
College radio stations are a strange beast. Some of their specialty shows will accept CDRs while the main programming will probably not go for anything less than a professional CD. This of course depends on college and the popularity of the radio station.
If you are going to try and do the radio promotion yourself and you can't find any information on their website on how to submit your music then it's best to get in touch with the radio station via e-mail.
You can easily get a list of radio stations by doing a bit of net research. Don't use the shotgun method and send stuff out indiscriminately. Do the research and find out what shows would fit best and how you can contact them. In most cases, with some persistence, you will be able to find out how they would like the material to be sent to them. The easiest way to get your material straight into the garbage is to send it to the wrong show or person at the station.
Remember that there are also many internet radio stations and their number is growing every day and it's a little easier to get in touch with them and get your music played. Also keep in mind that it's not only about the songs. Some of the specialty shows might actually request an interview. Be prepared and don't forget to mention your website and upcoming events or albums that you have out.... plug, plug, plug.
If you decide to go the full nine yards and hire a radio promoter then do your homework and make sure you appoint the right person for the job. Most radio promoters will specialize in certain musical styles (rap, r&b, metal, industrial, hip music, etc...) For example don't hire a rock guy to do a hiphop job!
If you plan it well and know what you're aiming for, then radio can play a crucial role in getting your band/music out there. Remember to do your homework before you start and good luck.
By Stan Oldman

How to Learn the Guitar Online By Ed Weber

If you grew up in a city or town much like the rest of America's, odds are the prettiest girl in town dated some football jock, or (and this is much more likely) she dated the neighborhood band's guitar player. The first thing I can tell you is not to be nervous you should see your first lesson as the begining of a beautiful lifelong musical journey. Don't forget your lesson should not be more than 30 minutes long so if you are nervous or tense you will not have to suffer very long.
When you start violin lessons for beginners you will first be taught two basic things how to hold the violin and how to hold the bow. You will also most likely learn the names of the parts of the violin and the bow.
This may not seem like much but remember your shoulder and left arm need time to build strength and stamina in order to play correctly. A tired arm and shoulder encourages bad posture along with the classic "frying-pan hold" on the violin neck. A tired or stiff right arm will create a sawing action with the bow.
Be patient if you want to make good steady progress, then you need time for your brain and body to assimilate the information given to it. Time taken now to work on what may seem simplistic will be time well spent when you do move onto more difficult things. Believe me, learning to play the violin is an exponential curve - it starts off on a shallow gradient but soon grows into a steep slope.
By Eric B Hill

How to Choose the Perfect Mobile DJ Equipment

If you have ever thought about starting a mobile DJ business, you may have hit the "equipment roadblock" along the way. Don't worry! I can help.
Lots of people think about starting a DJ business and get frustrated thumbing through equipment catalogs and descriptions. The prices can be extremely high, and there are always the little extra bits and pieces you need to fill out your gear. Cables, microphones, lights, extension cords, etc. It's a bit overwhelming.
Stop. For just a moment, think about the basic, bare bones necessities that a DJ needs to have. A sound source (CD player or iPod), speakers, and music. That's it.
Sure, there are lots of little things to fill in the gaps, but that's basically it. Decide on a sound source first. Will you be running CDs or MP3 files? If you want to start simple, just use your laptop and Apple iTunes to get started. If you want to go a little further, look at a dual CD deck. Any music store with a pro audio section will have several to choose from.
Next, your speakers need to be "pro" quality. Don't settle for home audio speakers or anything like that. Get a decent set of professional speakers with at least 12" drivers. These will run about $300 or more for a pair. Plus, you need to have power to the speakers. Active speakers will be self-powered, but they cost more. Passive speakers will cost less, but require an additional power amplifier to work. An appropriate power amp for your speakers may cost $250 or more.
To connect the sound source and the speakers, you may need a mixer. This depends, so don't rush out and buy one just yet. If you purchased a dual CD deck, it may have the proper outputs to connect directly to a power amp. If not, you will want to run from the deck into a DJ mixer. If you decided to use a laptop or mp3 player, you will most likely need a DJ mixer. The mixer can cost $60 or more for a decent starter piece.
Finding good deals? That's easy. Ebay is your friend. Look for reputable brand names on eBay. There are lots of cheap imitation brands that will let you down, so don't settle for the cheapest gear you find. Craigslist can also help you out. To get the most out of your investment, try purchasing only the basic necessities at first. Then when you begin to make more profits, re-invest the money to buy more gear and upgrade your old stuff. That's a powerful way to grow your equipment to truly professional level.
By Reuben Rock

Everything You Need to Know About the Violin From A-Z - Strings

Hello today I am continuing with my series everything you need to know about violin from A-Z. Today we are on S for strings. A hundred years ago violin strings were made from sheep gut. First you would have to take a newly killed sheep and disembowel it. You would have to stretch the intestines to their full 9 meters. You then had to knead out the offal by hand and soak the guts in water until they were soft and malleable. After that you would strip and crush the guts and finally twist then into violin strings.
It was a disgusting painstaking job and thank heavens that era is behind us. Modern strings today are made with far easier and modern methods, although some players still use gut strings there are also now steel core strings and synthetic core strings. The type of strings you use will depend on the style of music that you play.
Gut strings today are not made entirely out of gut like in the old days; they are now wrapped with silver or copper wire which helps to stabilize the tone. Gut strings have a warm rich tone they take longer to stretch out than synthetics but once stretched out are generally quite stable. Gut strings are susceptible to bad weather and you will have to check the tuning of your violin if there is bad weather. Gut strings are generally used by violinists playing classical or baroque music.
Steel core strings are popular among non classical players such as those playing country and bluegrass styles of music. Steel core strings have a very direct clear sound with few overtones. They also last longer and are mostly used for smaller or beginner instruments.
Synthetic core strings are made from synthetic materials such as high-tech nylons and composite materials they have the warm sound qualities of gut but are more stable in pitch.
Thicker strings give more volume and center tones, while thinner stings give brighter tones but less sustain.
By Eric B Hill
